BELMONT, CA – July 18, 2006 – Microtech Systems, a world leading developer of CD/DVD media publication technology, today announced the launch and availability of its new Blu-ray® line of publishing solutions. A high-performance production platform based on blue laser drive and media technology, Microtech’s Xpress XLTM automated solutions are designed to produce the largest volumes of professional CDs, DVDs and BDs (Blu-ray Disc) with customized digital content and direct-to-disc printed labels.

Providing a new standard in performance and capacity, the Xpress XL Blu-ray solution offers an industry leading 12 recorders and two label printers for the highest possible yield and performance from a single production system. The Xpress XL features an 800-disc capacity, with a corresponding fully-loaded digital production output of 20TB.

With the introduction of Blu-ray technology and advancements in performance and capacity, Microtech is anticipating growth and penetration into new markets and applications for business, government, military, medical, banking, insurance, broadcast and entertainment. Blu-ray applications, such as the software gaming industry’s PS3, as well as Video Entertainment for high definition movie titles, provide a substantial opportunity for high-volume Blu-ray disc production. Customers include Sony, SEGA, Lucas Arts and EA, as well as applications in the professional optical storage market.
